Proceeding from the Rotherham boundary, The Toll Bar house was situated on the right hand side of the road on the Sheffield side of the gates. Opposite was another whitewashed cottage known as The Weigh House . The road was turnpiked in 1764 so it is highly likely these cottages date from this period.
